Vapor Barrier / Vapor Intrusion
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), petroleum hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents are examples of contaminants which exist in soil and groundwater that can emit vapors that may migrate upward through unprotected building floor slabs. Over time these vapors can adversely affect the indoor air quality of a building, potentially causing a risk to human health. BrightFields can provide assistance by evaluating possible vapor intrusion pathways and providing mitigation services if needed. BrightFields has assisted in the development of the Delaware Department of Natural Resource’s (DNREC) Vapor Intrusion Policy, and developed Vapor Barrier Installation Reports required by DNREC.
BrightFields has experience designing and inspecting the installation of sub-slab building vapor barrier systems in residential and commercial areas. Brightfields designed and installed the first long-term residential vapor intrusion monitoring system in the State of Delaware.
BrightFields vapor intrusion investigation and mitigation services include:
- Data evaluation and risk assessment
- Design of residential and commercial mitigation systems
- Installation of sub-slab vapor barrier systems
- Oversight and inspection of vapor barrier system installations
- Design and installation of long-term vapor intrusion monitoring systems
