 | Asbestos, Lead, Mold and IAQ ServicesAsbestos ServicesBrightFields performs asbestos surveys for many types of clients, including private, commercial, industrial, and governmental entities. BrightFields has staff certified as Asbestos Inspectors in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, as well as the City of Philadelphia. Some of the ways a property owner or manager can determine if asbestos is present in their home or property is by examining product labels, asking the installer or manufacturer of a product, or by hiring a qualified professional firm, such as BrightFields. It is important to have an asbestos survey performed before starting a renovation or demolition project to determine if any materials contain asbestos as mandated by applicable NESHAP and AHERA Regulations. This information can be used to determine the most cost-effective and safest way to deal with asbestos-containing materials.
Lead Paint ServicesAlthough banned in 1978, lead-based paint is common in older homes and is still a leading cause of lead poisoning today. While anyone can be poisoned by lead, developing children and expectant mothers are especially at risk to hazards resulting from lead paint. Lead poisoning in children and adults often results from inhalation or ingestion of dust created by deteriorating lead paint in a home. There are a number of remedies that can make a home safe from lead hazards. BrightFields has Delaware and Pennsylvania-certified Lead Risk Assessors and Lead Abatement Project Designers on staff to assist in making homes and businesses safer. BrightFields personnel are qualified to perform Lead Inspections designed to identify lead paint within a dwelling, and Lead Risk Assessments and Lead Hazard Screens to identify potential hazards. These services involve sampling paint and dust within a building but also involve investigating the condition of painted surfaces and living habits of occupants to determine the source of hazards. Lead Risk Assessments and Hazard Screens recommend a course of action for a homeowner or occupant to reduce the risks associated with lead. BrightFields personnel can also design complex lead abatement projects and are qualified to perform Elevated Blood Lead Level investigations to determine the source of lead poisoning in children who have been identified with elevated levels in their blood. Mold and Indoor Air QualityIndoor air quality and mold can become health and safety concerns for a building’s occupants. BrightFields can perform mold surveys and indoor air quality (IAQ) surveys at dwellings as well as commercial/industrial buildings. Our services include mold sampling (wipe and air sampling), indoor air sampling for comfort parameters (temperature, CO, CO2, humidity) and for volatile organic compounds, and data logging of air quality indicators. Resulting data is compared against ASHRAE and other guidelines and recommendations are made for improving IAQ. BrightFields can determine the extent of the mold contamination and assist in the development of a remediation plan to abate mold hazards that are found. | |
