 | About UsBrightFields HistoryBrightFields, Inc. was founded in 2003 by Marian Young and Mark Lannan. In May 2003, BrightFields purchased the assets of WIK Associates, a Delaware environmental services firm with 20 years of experience. Both principals had worked at WIK since 1993 where they were instrumental in developing and managing that company’s business. Prior to WIK Associates, both owners worked at Roy F. Weston, Inc., one of the premier consulting firms in the environmental business. BrightFields is a woman-owned business, and is certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the State of Delaware Department of Transportation, an Office of Minority and Woman Business (OMB) by the state of Delaware Executive Department Office of Management, and a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the State of Maryland Department of Transportation. The new building is located on a brownfield property (former city landfill) in a targeted census tract on the 7th Street Peninsula in Wilmington, demonstrating our clear commitment to the revitalization of environmentally impacted and economically disadvantaged areas. A second office was opened in August 2007 in Milford, Delaware to serve clients and projects throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. Since June 2003, BrightFields has grown from 14 employees to more than 30 employees, and has been awarded numerous projects for site investigations, remediation services, brownfield redevelopment, asbestos and lead surveys and abatement project management and underground tank removals.
